Description:
The RS110/RS110T is an anomaly for its size. Danny “Mo” Morris called me after playing a show at the Lesley Performing Arts Center/Marran Theater with the Stan Strickland Ensemble with an RS110. The ensemble was grand piano, drums and percussion, saxophone and Danny on bass. Danny, a full time professor at Berklee in Boston, was born and brought up in NY. Danny Mo can play.
So, when he called early Friday morning on December 14, 2012,I had 2 questions: “Why’d you wake me up?” and “Why’d you wake me up?” I had played the night before and my gig went a lot later than his. He said he just wanted to tell me about his gig with Stan and how the head of the Berklee bass dept had come up to him inquiring about his rig. “Well,” Danny said, “I’m using a GK400RB that I’ve had forever…” The gentleman interrupted and reminded Danny that he knew what a GK 400RB was, but what was the cabinet? Danny filled him in and was told that it sounded superb and they were doing a great job at FOH (front of house) with the bass. “Well,” Danny replied, “ that’s great, but it’s all coming off the stage...it’s not in the PA." Danny ended the conversation asking me not to change anything on the cab. “It’s perfect,” he said.
That was three years ago. Since then the RS110s and RS110Ts have been on the road and on stage with jazz, country, rock, and blues acts, either alone, in a pair, or stacked on top of an RS210 or RS212 just killin’ it. They’re portable, and put out sound that belies their size. They come stock in a black Duratex finish with flush mount, powder coated steel bar handle, sound isolating feet, 16 gauge steel grill with choice of logos, single Neutrik Speakon Connector and a tweeter with L-pad adjustment on the RS110T.
